The Geographical Indications (GI) e-Filing Portal was officially launched on 15 September 2026 (GI Day) by the Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT)
The newly launched portal facilitates the online filing of Geographical Indication (GI) applications, providing applicants and stakeholders with a streamlined, convenient and user-friendly digital platform for GI-related filings.

Alongside the launch of the e-Filing Portal, the Draft Guidelines for Geographical Indications have also been published to provide guidance and clarity to applicants and stakeholders on various aspects of the GI registration process.
